Neural Engineering
We develop and test methods for measuring electrophysiological signals during dynamic human movements using high density electroencephalography (EEG) and electromyography (EMG). We validate hardware and signal cleaning approaches for recording high-fidelity human biosignals.
EEG signal cleaning validation
We used tripolar concentric ring electrodes to recover simulated brainwave activity from a fake human head in the presence of signal contaminating electrical neck muscle activity during walking. Tripolar concentric ring electrodes have three concentric rings on each electrode that enable noise cancellation through subtraction between each ring. We identified improved noise removal from tripolar concentric ring electrodes compared to conventional electrodes.
